The Camless Hydraulic Valve Train System (CHVTS) project was taking an idea from conception to proof-of-concept. The CHVTS concept promises a fuel economy improvement and CO2 emissions reductions of up to 25% for vehicles powered by a common petrol engine. This approximately cost-neutral add-on feature to a common petrol engine has its highest fuel saving potential in peak-hour start-stop traffic, exceeding the 25% estimated on a standard test cycle.
The concept was successfully proven and demonstrated on a test-bench, operating at an equivalent engine speed of 1200 RPM.
A global patent application was accepted by patent offices around the globe. And with more patentable details the CHVTS can easily protected and further developed.
